2013 is our 25th year! Teams, racing, food, live music, kids' activities - the Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival is the largest outside Hong Kong and a fixture of the summer festival scene in Vancouver. Admission is free, there's lots to do and see - like a new dragon boat race every 10 minutes and non-stop live music on the Worldbeat Stage starting at 11 am each day.

Didn't make it this year, but every time I have gone ,I and my grandchildren have had a marvelous time. Lots of free entertainment for the kids and a great day outdoors for all.

Best day is Sunday afternoon when the races can be won/lost by 1/100s of a second. And, to top it all off is the Guts and Glory 2000m race. Starting with the slowest of the top 16 teams, each 10 secs apart, boats strategically chase each other 2 laps around the race course trying to pass each other and knock off seconds in a race to the finish line. Probably the most beautiful race site in Canada. Thanks to the sponsors who continue to support this funtastic, family oriented, weekend event.

I visit every year. Huge amount of fun but it would be even more fun to participate on a team. Unfortunately, I could not 'drum' up enough support in the last company at worked at. Perhaps next year.
