From the Brandon Sun on Feb. 7/12:
With more than 62,700 visits to the 13 pavilions, 2012 was a record year for the Lieutenant Governor’s Winter Festival.
As festival chair Esther Bryan predicted in yesterday’s Brandon Sun, last year’s attendance number of 60,000 was surpassed by nearly five per cent.
Organizers are already looking ahead to next year’s event, which will be the 10th annual.
“Plans have already started,” Bryan said. “We’ll likely meet with some of the prospective new pavilions within the next couple of weeks ... We’re excited.”

Last year was my first Winterfest in Brandon. I had recently started dating my partner and we attended as many of the pavillions as we could. I love culture, and he works with many of the immigrants who were involved with the Winterfest activities. I fell in love with him even more, watching him interact with the different people at each pavillion, and his patient and gentle manner while genuinly helping his friends conquer the language barrier. I was so excited about this year's festival, and how I would get to see him interacting with all the people again. He makes everyone feel special, welcomed, and important, even when he has trouble understanding them. I have truly found my life partner.
