Rockies Road Trippin'
On our drive to the Abbotsford International Airshow we celebrated as the West Coast odometer ticked over 13,000km. And boy are the stories piling up! We've checked off all the classic roadtrip experiences: we've been bogged in a parking lot in Winnipeg, had a flat tire en route to Saskatoon and been pictured with the giant Coke can in Portage-la-Prarie.
Another classic experience has been our trip through the Rockies. The mountains, soaring trees and raging rivers make for a memorable visit. Driving the route for the first time, Ali finally understood why West Coasters smirk at her when she refers to the Maritime 'mountains'.
Arriving in the Thompson Valley, we spent a few days at Kamloops - one of WesJets' newest destinations - while at the Western Canada Summer Games. In-between shifts we hiked rivers and swam in lakes and enjoyed the hot, dry, valley weather.
The Rockies and the Thompson Valley offer spectacular scenery, and a raft of activities for visitors. They are so close to each other they are easily rolled into a road-trip vacation that should be a priority for every Canadian.
